Some tragic news broke recently when it was announced that OnePlus was exiting most major global markets, including the U.S., the U.K., and the EU. However, that doesn’t seem to have fazed many of the company’s fans who have decided that the OnePlus exodus from their countries isn’t reason enough to ditch its phones.

OnePlus is leaving

After many months of rumors, it is now almost official that OnePlus is shutting down most global operations after years of releasing phones that garnered critical acclaim. High-profile executives are leaving or being shuffled around and some employees were reportedly informed about this decision some time back.

The possible reasons range from the current memory shortages to an overall loss of global market share. But for many of you, once you went with OnePlus, there just wasn’t any going back.

Half of you aren’t budging

In a recent poll, we asked you what you planned to do in case OnePlus left your region. Almost 53 percent of voters said that they were going to stick with their current OnePlus phone for as long as possible.

Meanwhile, 21 percent of you said that you would then consider getting an Oppo phone, as both it and OnePlus are owned by the same parent organization. There would be some difference, of course, as Oppo’s phones tend to focus more on photography capabilities while OnePlus generally offers a more rounded experience.

Fascinatingly, a little over 15 percent of respondents said that they would consider getting a Pixel phone if OnePlus exited their region. In last place, around 10 percent of you said that you would then consider a Samsung phone.

What about you? What would you do if OnePlus ends up leaving your country?

You might find solace with Oppo

Oppo’s phones won’t give OnePlus fans the exact same experience that they might be craving after the latter shuts down its operations, but they do come close.

There is also the very strong possibility that the parent organization of both phone manufacturers decides to structure and market Oppo’s phones more like OnePlus phones globally. If something like that happens, then consumers might still find solace with Oppo despite the loss of OnePlus.

It’s only logical

For current OnePlus users who don’t upgrade their phone each year just to keep up with the latest in smartphone tech, keeping your phone is the most logical choice, in my opinion. Reports claim that OnePlus will keep aftersales service active in regions it exits and will deliver however many years of updates it promised for its phones.

By the time all of those operations also come to an end, Oppo might just be the next OnePlus for the markets that lost the latter.
