Think you know technology? Pew Research’s Internet Project reveals a lot about our “Web IQ”

If you are a die-hard mobile user, chances are you know that the first iPhone came out in 2007, and that Twitter has a 140 character limit. That also means you likely understand the use of “hashtags,” formerly known as “pound” symbols.

We are fairly certain our readership knows that a megabyte is bigger than a kilobyte, and could also pic Bill Gates or Sheryl Sandberg out of a line-up. However, our regular readers would also not be surprised to know that they are the exception.

Pew Research conducted a survey of 1,066 adults and gauged their knowledge across a number of those topics, and others. Younger demographics scored higher, on average, but the median still followed the classic “bell curve” with most respondents answering in the middle third.
