First in everything: new LeEco phone with Snapdragon 823 appears on AnTuTu

For the past few days, we've been hearing various reports about which upcoming smartphone will be the world's first Snapdragon 821-equipped handset. Some said the rumored Xiaomi Mi5s, others said the expected Oppo Find 9. However, we did kind of forget about the upcoming LeEco Le Max 2 Pro (supposed name), which should be announced on the 29th of June, according to rumors.

So, quick recap – LeEco is a company, formerly known as LeTV, which is pretty huge in China, offering a wide variety of products in different consumer electronics markets, smartphones being one of them. The company has been planning a splash on the Western markets for a while now, but for the time being it is still mostly selling in Asia.

LeEco was the first company to announce a smartphone with the Snapdragon 820 SoC (announce, not launch), and it had the first batch of commercially-available smartphones in 2016 to not have a 3,5 mm audio jack — the Le 2, Le 2 Pro, and Le Max 2 handsets. Out of the trio, the Max 2 has the most powerful hardware, with the Snapdragon 820 humming under its hood and a generous slab of 6 GB of RAM.

We've been hearing rumors about a LeEco Max 2 Pro that would feature the whopping 8 GB of RAM, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821. However, a new AnTuTu benchmark listing shows us that we may very well see another LeEco smartphone announced alongside the 8GB RAM monster.

So, in this listing, we see a device with "just" 4 GB of RAM, and a Qualcomm MSM8996pro chipset. The latter is the supposed codename for a rumored Snapdragon 823, not the Snapdragon 821. However, we also see that the device has a resolution of 1080 x 1920. This means that it is not a member of the LeEco Max line, because this family of devices traditionally has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (QHD), and, of course, it would make no sense to downgrade to 4 GB of RAM when the Max 2 already has six.

So, it's most probably another variant or a more powerful version of the Le 2 Pro. Could LeEco really announce two high-octane devices at once, and could they be a part of the "big splash" it plans to make in the US this fall?
